Ġnejna bay lies on the north west coast of Malta, facing the island of Gozo. It is known as Mġarr’s beach and is sign posted three kilometres west of Mġarr. It is found past a beautiful big church and Castello Zamitello.

Ġnejna bay is located at the bottom of a beautiful valley which is rich in flora and fauna. Moreover, there are many fruit trees and farmers’ fields. The Lippija Tower was built by Grand master Lascaris in 1637. In fact, it is one of the four similar watch towers built by the same Grand master at the time. The tower is visible from the road, as well as, from the beautiful sandy beach. On the east side of the bay, you can also see the boathouses which were handmade hollowed into the soft limestone cliff. These are used by local fishermen, which most of them are over fifty years old.

The bay has a clean sandy beach ideal for children and smooth rocky platforms. In the middle of the bay there is a plane wreck from the Second World War and it is ideal for snorkelling. On the right side of the bay you will find a small beach and a rocky platform frequented a lot by gays. It is called Qarraba bay or the nudist beach. Mind you, it is illegal although nobody seems to bother about it!

So if you’re thinking of taking a holiday in Malta make sure you visit Ġnejna bay. You can also make use of our beach facilitieswater sportsboat tours and other services we offer.
